I am wondering what the difference is between an autopsy, a necropsy and
a postmortum. Or are they all the same thing?

Autopsy: Auto = "of or for oneself", opsy from "opsis" =
appearance, necro = dead, post = after, mortem = death. Technically,
autopsies are on a human when done by a human, but folks don't worry
that much about those species distinctions among family members.
Yes, all are used interchangeably here. (No dead language jokes,
please. Okay, I am overly tired...)
