Subject: Prednisolone
We have been using a compounded version of Prednisone, mixed with a
flavoring, for our ferret with insulinoma. We recently switched to adult
Prednisolone and he seems to not be doing so well. We calculated the liquid
dosage carefully for an equivalent dosage in mg/kg weight. A web search
brought up the comment that one should not administer generic Predisone
which contains alcohol, but gave no reason. We will try to find out if the
pred we are giving him has any alcohol, but can someone tell us why the
alcohol is a problem?
