Subject: Lucy's gone; necropsy results
Dear Barb. My heart goes out to you. I have lost two to lymphoma. Our
Claudette's temperature was taken at a visit to the vet and her poor vulva
became terribly and alarmingly bruised. It was then we began really to really
suspect lymphoma, which a biopsy taken *very* carefully during an ultrasound
soon confirmed. It appeared that only one mesentary lymph node was
enlarged, and apparently the lymphoma had also spread to her pancreas (which
does not generally show up well on ultrasound); she also had terribly high
blood sugar. Both her vets said that lack of blood clotting can occur with
lymphoma resulting in easy and bad bruising; it happens with humans too. It
makes sense that this, taken to a greater extreme, could also result in internal
bleeding, but vets can speak more to that. I believe we were giving Claudette
something for anemia due to the bruising.
Take good care of yourself, Barb. Lucy was very lucky to have you, and to
have you with her during her final breaths. Lynn <faiml@u...>
