Subject: Re: [Ferret-Health-list] Lupron use long term

Thank you Dr. Purcell for responding so quickly. I am relieved to know that
this may not be an issue in ferrets. I'm not sure what the dosage of Lupron
Boots is getting but he has received monthly injections for almost 1 1/2
years now. Do you think it would be advisable to have an x-ray done
anyway. Boot's last x-ray was in Nov 2000. If there was a loss of bone
density would it be easily visible?

Another poster did send me your contact information. Would it be okay for
my vet to call you if he has questions?

She mentioned something about long term use causing a loss of bone density
or something along that lines and now I'm nervous about using it. When I
spoke to her she suggested that an x-ray would show if this had occurred.
My vet is willing to do the x-ray to compare to an older x-ray but would
like more information first. Boots has been on monthly Lupron injections
for approx 16 months now. Can anyone tell me how I go about getting contact
information for either or both of these vets?
