Subject: Re: [Ferret-Health-list] Re: Lupron / Adrenal Symptoms

Hi everyone,

As I have mentioned before there's an Adrenal Research going on here in
Washington State and our shelter ferrets are in it. We had a hob turned in
to the shelter and he is in the study also a few jills that came from another
area in Washington are in the study and these ferrets along with the adrenal
ferret are being given the 1 month Lupron injections. What is one of the
things we have found out that if you give a male hob Lupron to take him out
of season, it takes about 4 months before he comes back in season. So looks
like a one month injections does seem to last longer then 1 month, anyway in
a hob and jill. We also have seen here that sometimes even after giving a 1
month lupron shot that you don't see any immediate
results. I just had the vet give Sassy a 1 month injections, so will be
interested to see if there any change this month in her fur or Vulva. I
wonder if it would be ok to continue giving her the Melatonin, or would that
be over medicating.
