Subject: Vet advice needed please - vaccination
We live in Australia and the vaccination our ferrets are given
is "C4 - Protech Canine Distemper, Hepatitis, Parvovirus and
Parainfluenza Fort Dodge". We don't have rabies here. Is this
vaccination appropriate? I thought ferrets only required distemper
shots. One response from the group suggested the above is not
approved for ferrets in the US and only United's Fervac-D and
Merial's Purevac Ferret distemper vaccine are approved for ferrets.
I don't know if those vaccines are available in Aust but if they are,
should I be asking the vet to switch to one of those? If not
available, is the Protech Canine Distemper vaccine safe? Are the
other vaccinations (ie hepatitis, etc.) necessary?
