Transit time for food in a ferret is about four hours, so there's no
reason to fast a ferret longer than that.
A ferret that is having surgery for insulinoma is obviously already
hypoglycemic and taking food away at midnight could result in seizure
or worse.
If my ferret was scheduled to have surgery at 10, I'd make sure he
had something to eat around 6-6:30. I feed him chicken baby food and
A/D just to make sure he's had a good meal. It's pretty hard to
force 'em to eat kibble at any specific time.
