I just thought I'd let you all know how it's been going with my little girl.
I'd gotten her eating treats and drinking a little water last night in
addition to ferretone. This morning I could tell she'd hardly had anything
one way or the other all night so I did the same thing with getting her to
have a couple treats, some ferretone, a little fruit baby food (for
moisture), and a little bit of exercise (for her mind). A little later I
made some chicken broth for her and by the time I gave it to her I could
tell she was already feeling a little better. She tried to bite me (normal
for her), she wanted out of the cage a little more enthusiastically than
yesterday, and was moving around her cage and looking for a little food and
treats. When I put a little bowl of the broth in the cage for her before I
went to work, she had a good big drink of it and dunked her head a couple
times before having another big drink of it. I think it made all the
difference. I came home from just a little bit ago (also picked up some cat
hairball laxative stuff) and was greeting by 2 fully alert happy little
faces (her and my male)! She was pushing him around for attention just like
always and arguing a little for treats and running around the cage begging
to be let out and for more treats and stuff. She also ate normal food for
me just as eagerly as normal, had a few treats, and peed almost on command!
I'm still going to give her (and the male too just to be sure) the cat
hairball stuff to just make sure there's nothing stuck. Should give some to
the cats too. Thank you all for the advice and help! You've been great!!!
:-)

Thanks Mike! Maybe it just depends on the critter since my male is fine. I
know that I hate the heat as well and don't do well in it same as my German
Shepherd who was born here in the area (I've never seen her cold and she
lives in the garage when we're on vacation in the Rockies!). Thanks so much
for the help. I will figure out something to do temporarily when it's hot
out (we had highs of about 70 today outside which heats up the house quite a
bit) at least until hubby gets home or I stop working so much (which I hope
is soon). Thanks again! I'll let you all know how she's doing in the
morning. :-)

80 degrees is a little warmer than they like it, but I don't believe
it's a major concern. It's often 78-80 degrees in our place here in
Miami and my crew has never had a problem with it. When Hurricane
Andrew blew everything away down here, we went without power for a
week and it was 90 every day. Sid wasn't terribly happy, but he did
just fine.
Nevertheless, I would recommend cooler temperatures. The higher
temperatures can be dangerous.
