Hi,
We have 45 ferrets in our shelter with 11 of them showing signs of
adrenal disease including hair lose, swollen vulva and very aggressive.
We have been unable to afford the surgery so in the interim we have been
using Lupron on 3 of them and Melatonin on all 11. The results are
astonishing so far as all 11 ferrets have responded to the meds. And
have grown a full soft furry coat and the females vulva have shrunk plus
the aggression has disappeared. I know that the meds do not cure the
problem but it is buying me time to afford the operations. I give the
ferrets their 1 mg of Melatonin mixed with ½ of Nutrical every day at 2
PM although I have read that the timing is not that important. I buy the
Melatonin in 3 mg caps from an online body building store that charges
about $11.00 plus shipping for 120.
Cheryl, Steve and from all my babies waiting for us at the rainbow
bridge including the gang of 45 ferrets plus Steve & Cheryl the bill
payers. We are a State licensed no kill shelter so please visit us and
our business of ferrets at http://www.sjferret.com/ or if your looking
to adopt goto http://www.sjferret.com/ad.html and for email
mailto:email@s... or via ICQ #2851077

--I was the one that posted the question about Melatonin I had read
somewhere it was a drug used to treat Adrenal ferrets, I wanted to
know if anyone else has tried it. As far as the thing about the cats,
we have 5 ferrets and two cats and 3 of our ferrets do that same
thing. we don't know why. but it has been fun to see who out lasts
who almost always the cat that moves first
