Subject: Re: canine teeth puncturing mouth!

Hello Lisa,
During my years of rescuing we encountered several
ferrets with canine teeth that punctured the lips! The
upper canines are best to be removed, however the
lower one can cause damage or break the lower jaw, if
removed, at least that was my understanding some years
ago when we rescued SABRE(as in tiger)!
We took him to a veterinarian who specialized in
dental care and we ended up calling Sabre the 'ferret
with the million dollar tooth', simply, it cost us a
fortune to have a root canal done on a lower canine
and a stainless steele cap put on the tooth! The
dentist did a fantastic job and the cap was never a
problem, but it cost over a thousand dollars, that was
over 8 years ago, probably much more now---Angela.
