Subject: cleaning agents

I just wanted to take a minute to remind all of us how easily it is
for our ferrets to become injured. I myself clean only with
vinegar. I am so thankful that I do this, as yesterday while I was
cleaning the cage, all three of my ferrets were out running. I had
them in the den here with me as that is where the cage is. I had
the bucket on the floor, and only was wiping out the bottom level
when my Jasper jumped up and grabbed a hold of the edge of the
bucket and tried to drink the mixture. He did ingest some and
almost fell in. I caught him immediately, however if I had had
Lysol or Clorox in that bucket, I am sure he would have been in
serious trouble. Since getting my ferrets six years ago, I have
been using white vinegar with a mixture of water on almost
everything in my home.
I guess I just wanted to remind everyone of how careful we have
to be, even when we are all doing our best, simple accidents like
this can happen and can be easily prevented. From now on, the
bucket will be up higher.
Another safety tip we all do here is to always account for
every ferret before any appliance is ran. Dishwasher, dryer, and
washing machine. It only takes a minute and can save a life.
Happy ferreting to everyone.
Sincerely, Tina
