Tagamet and Carafate are definitely not the same thing. Tagamet
inhibits gastric acid production. Carafate coats the ulcer, reduces
pain when eating and aids in healing.

Antacids are usually not prescribed in the case of ulcers in
ferrets. Carafate is a better choice.
