Did your vet perform a culture on the infection?
It is getting worse to be seeing coughing etc. At this point I would
A- segregate the ill ferret from the others - , conjunctivitis is contagious
B- consider whether a recheck is warranted - canine distemper can also
start with these two symptoms-- are the distemper vaccinations up to
date in your business? If not the have blood drawn and sent out for titer
check ASAP!
If neither of these pan out - then there may be a retro bulbar tumor
present -- again your vet would need to look into this for you. Best
