Reading this list I have noticed that there are some
who use and have been successful with Proglycem,
however in my many years of running a shelter, I used
Proglycem alone and thousands of dollars later and not
much success, I found pred. to be more beneficial,
with greater and longer effect! It was not just price
alone, as we were getting it compounded for a lot
less, but the success of using it by itself was way
less than using pred alone!
For years at the shelter I had the privilege of caring
for many ferrets with insulinoma, infact we averaged
about 40 at any given time and the majority lived, on
average 3 years(some 4-5years) just by feeding a soft
diet(babyfood/A/D-.25ccs) twice a day and pediapred!
To this day we still have 16 ferrets on the same
regimen and none are overweight due to pred., infact I
have never had a ferret gain weight simply because it
was taking pred., are you sure it is not for some
other reason, could it be because of her heart
condition or a thyroid problem, just a thought?-Angela.
