Subject: Re: [Ferret-Health-list] Any with NO health problems?

Hi, Cay, and everyone else,

Our Tenchi is four. He's never been sick a day in his life. Adric
(four in April) has had only very minor issues, and no surgeries. He's
perfectly healthy. Kodo and Podo (7.5 year old, rescued six months ago)
were lab ferrets, then passed through three different homes for about a
year each before landing here. We have only partial vet records, plus
very thorough examination by my vet. It appears neither has ever had a
major health problem or a surgery. That's four out of the 10 we've
owner, nine of which are still here.

Also, we have two which have had a single problem (an adrenal surgery)
and done fine ever since. Kerr Avon had his adrenal surgery just over
two years ago. The $500 cost, if spread over the life of a fert, really
isn't much, is it? Avon is turning four in April, and Nyssa (also one
adrenal surgery) turns four in May.

Almost all our vet bills have been concentrated inb four ferrets (40%),
with half of that in one problem child (Pertwee). 60% of our ferrets
have been either problem free or had one relatively serious issue.
Granted, our business is a tiny little sample, but I do believe the
majority of ferrets aren't all that expensive or that much trouble. Of
course, the ones that are, well...

All the best,
Caity and the notorious nine
