Subject: for everyone

For some reason folks are forgetting a few basics recently:

1. Preferably what you say should be longer than what you quote.
The vets and many others who are likely to be able to help you simply
will not have time to go through a lot of excess, so you increase the
chances for a helpful reply if you are careful.

2. You should, please, always trim extraneous material from your
post; there is no reason to quote the Yahoo sign-off from a digest,
or to have a string of unrelated posts following your comments.
Sometimes we do folks the favor of doing this for them, but when
rushed we have no choice but to reject for the poster to clean up the
message, so a little care up front saves everyone from extra work.

3. There is no reason to send the same post several times in a day.
As has been said before, Yahoo has a glitch which causes it to say
that a message has failed when it has not, plus this is a moderated
list so it might take a few hours from time sent to time posted while
waiting for a moderator's attention.

4. If you want to reply to the list then hit "reply" but if you want
to reply to the individual then just click on that individual's
address at the opened message within
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Ferret-Health-list/ .

5. If you want to send a message to the list then use
<Ferret-Health-list@yahoogroups.com>, but if a message is just for
the moderators send it instead to
<Ferret-Health-list-owner@yahoogroups.com> .

6. Stay on the topic of ferret health related material, please,
rather than sending off-topic things that will have to be rejected.

7. We do not exist to bash or to advertise.

8. Please, be careful to not write in a way which excludes others;
anyone should feel comfortable responding to your health-care post.
If you address a post to "vets" you may lose out by not receiving a
reply from a non-vet who has a lot of experience, and that is unfair
to all, and may deprive your ferrets and you, while it may make
others uncomfortable, so please, avoid that pitfall.

Hope this helps!
