Hi Katharine,
No expert just my opinion. I would let your friend take the
little one if that is where he will stay if the owner is not found.
You are right, he probably will be more uptight with bouncing. This
way if she has ferrets she can see how they will all react and if
she gets to keep him he will already have had intervention with his
new family.
