Yes, the number of people who are being careless on this score
is rising, as is the number repeating messages, despite dozens
of reminders from the moderators that Yahoo gives a false error
message which should be ignored.
With close to 1,300 members it simply is impossible for the
moderators to give the level of personal attention to such
discourtesies that was given before, so -- PLEASE -- follow the
rules.
Why?
Well in terms in courtesy it's only fair to fellow members and to
moderators.
In terms of kindness and practicality if we go from having a
densely medical list to one with a lot of repetitive material or fluff
that adds nothing to discourse we could risk losing the level of
donated vet participation that has made this list so special for
the last year. (This also brings up "me, too" posts that lack
information; if that is all that you are saying then say it privately,
please.)
There's a personally pratical reason for you to be kind, too. With
all of the moderators donating time and the list having gotten so
large we simply can't deal with folks who don't take the time to
show consideration in return. In other words: if you mess up
badly by not being considerate or by not following the rules we
will REJECT you instead of bringing your post into compliance. If
we have time we'll tell you what to change; if we don't then we will
assume that you are capable of reading the rules and going
from there.
Sorry, but with so many folks here and all moderation time
donated we WILL reject rather than edit posts into compliance. If
you feel that you don't have the time to delete extraneous quotes
then you should not assume that we have the time to do it for you
during our donated hours.
In case, you have not noticed, some people have pushed this
badly enough that there have had to be 4 reminders from
moderators in only a few days. If you think that you detect some
frustration then you detect well.
If you are among the majority of members: people who are kind
to others and who use this forum in a constructive fashion, then
thank you so very, very much for all that you contribute to making
the FHL such a marvelous place to be.
If you have messed up but DID NOT REALIZE IT before, that's
okay. We forgive you as long as you just take the time to be
considerate in the future. We have big hearts; we just don't have
big holes in our schedules to do for you the trimming and so on
that you should be doing.
