I guess my question would be, what kind of condition is Bria in
otherwise. She is not a youngster any more at 8, and older ferrets
do not always come through surgery as well as younger ones do.
I have a girl about the same age who has just recently developed
insulinoma problems, and I am opting to treat with the pred. I know
from experience that older ferrets frequently do not heal as quickly,
and are more likely to have post surgical problems, and my girl has
already been trough adrenal surgery 2 years ago. She is doing well
on the pred, and I think for her, that is the best way to go.
I am usually very much pro surgery. In most cases, I believe it is
the way to go. But, if it were an 80 year old person, would it be
better to do surgery, or treat with medicine.
I think it is a personal decision you have to make. I do not know if
there is a right or wrong answer. You and your vet are probably the
ones that can best determine what is best for Bria, since you are the
ones most familiar with her overall condition.
Just my personal opinion.
