Subject: Re: what about baby food?

No, a healthy ferret should not be getting baby food on any sort of
regular basis. A meat based baby food (chicken, turkey) is a good
food for a sick ferret that is not eating on its own, one that has
digestive problems, and the high protein of meat baby food is a good
supplement for a ferret with low blood glucose.

Personally, I'm all for giving chicken baby food as an occasional
treat. It's certainly better than some of the other treats we give
them, and it gets them accustomed to the taste. Most ferrets won't
accept a strange food easily (but don't tell my Penny who will eat
absolutely anything!) and there's nothing worse than attempting to
introduce a strange food to a sick ferret that doesn't want to eat in
the first place.
