Subject: Re: Insulinoma surgery

Russ, if you read post 11341 (which is a very informative post on many levels) you will find your answer as far as Dr. Bruce William's opinion goes because he writes:
"Currently, we have little knowledge as to what actually causes the
development of insulinoma. to date, surgery is the only definitive
treatment for insulinoma, although some work with Doxorubricin in a
small clinical study in the NE U.S. is showing some promise when used
post-surgically."

That should help you out.

I really do suggest reading that post; it is titled "Chromium Confusion" or something similar. MY impression of this is that it might be that the compound MIGHT have a useful effect on whatever underlies the development of insulinomae, or perhaps the rate of growth of them. There's a whole section of human oncology research which circles around the idea that if the growth rate of neoplasia can be slowed enough then the illnesses can be delayed at times to a range outside the normal lifespans.
