Subject: Ferret Insulinoma
Please help me. I have a ferret that was acting normal until his
front legs would colapse. I thought that he just hurt his paw so i
gave it some time. It did not get better, so i took him to the
vet.The night before bailey (my ferret) was running all over the
bedroom playing while he was at the vet he started having seizures.
His blood sugar was only 10. He was put in the animal hospital
Christmas eve and i couldnt bring him home until the day after
Christmas. They gave him iv's for this. Bailey still has not walked
or been normal. He could walk and run if i held his weight up until
but he was unable to do this on his own. Now his belly is so bloated
that he isnt moving at all except for his head. everyone i talk to
says this is from the pred that he is on. A split xray showed that
this was gas and not fluid, however, when hes bloated, he breathes
hard. He also constantly grinds his teeth. Bailey has been like this
for a month, do you know what else could be causing this? I have
already spent over $600 on him and cannot financially afford much
more. I am feeding him 5-6 times a day and even get up in the middle
of the night to feed him. I hate to have to get him put to sleep, it
will kill me, but I dont know if hes going to get much better. Do
you know anything else that this could be or what else i can try?
When i brought Bailey home, he would scoot all over the floor
(because he couldnt walk) now he does little of anything and doesnt
ever scoot. Please help me??????????
