Subject: Re: Ferret Insulinoma

right now bailey is on sucralfate 1 gram (gets 1/4 a tablet) and
this does not seem to help much...this was given from his vet
because i suggested maybe he has an ulcer..he seems to do it more
while he is eating...as soon as he sees the food is when he seems to
want to grind...so it takes us sometimes about an hour to get
through a meal (which makes it hard at 2 in the morning or on my
lunch break) but it is def worth it...could the pred cause him to
be bloated like this? i work at a drs office and all the nurses
told me that pred bloates humans up...bailey use to scoot all over
the place until he got bloated...now he doesnt move at all except
for his head...are ulcers curable or just treatable? bailey hasnt
had an tarry stool...it smells real bad and strong...but not tarry
(he is on hills a/d diet) his urine i noticed is pretty
strong...although i never noticed if it was b4 he was sick or not,
so i dont know if this is common or not...they have done about 2 or
3 different xrays and it never showed a blockage or anything..his
spleen was a little big, but the vet said that it wasnt abnormally
big...i am currently trying to get a second opinion from a ferret
knowlegable vet, but im having a hard time finding one...one even
told me to take him off of the pred for 3 days and if he goes into a
seizure give him karo...after talking to people i found out that you
cannot just quit the pred cold turkey...so i am having a little
problem locating a vet close to me....can i buy one of those one
touch machines that they use on people to check his blood sugar
myself? if so, how do you get the blood sample? thanks for
replying to my message.
