I have had a rice box for over a year, six ferrets digging
away and no problem with rice in their ears or noses. Believe
me I have two that submerge themselves nose first into the
box. My ferrets range from 1.125 pounds to 3.5 pounds. The
key to the rice box is to use regular uncooked rice. Never
minute rice incase they inadvertently ingest a piece. I
believe there is an article in a back issue from last years
ferret magazine which features information on making a rice
box as well as dos and donts.
