Subject: Blood In Urine
Hello everyone. Weeks back I posted that one of our rescues-'Tracy'
was having brown urine. No replies from the group-perhaps no one had
any experience with this. Tracy had her annual check up early
February . Vet was able to squeeze some urine from her and the urine
analysis showed blood. Vet thought problems with kidneys was
probable, but wanted to rule out a UTI, so she was put on Amoxie.
Brown urine still there after completing the meds. Took her back for
a re-check last Wed and vet sedated and pulled blood from the
jugular because other veins were collapsing at attempts. Vet called
today to say bloodwork came back pretty much ok, with a slight
elevation in bilirubin,which contradicts urine analysis which
reported very high bil. So it seems we're looking at some kind of
liver dysfunction or cancer. Tracy will have a sonogram next Wed. In
the meantime, she looks great,has no appearance of jaundice,but is
losing weight -about 5-10 grams per week over the last month. I
guess the most aggressive and definitive approach would be
exploratory surgery, but am not thrilled at that and am not
convinced that will prove anything. So,again...has anyone had a
similar problem with thier baby{ies} ?
