Subject: Revolution for ear mites; Also Heartguard questions

I am using Revolution in my ferrets to treat ear mites. I am
using a kitten dose, as my ferrets all range in weights from 1.5lbs
to 3.5 lbs. I will find out if its helped next week at a vet check.
I was wondering, does this does of Revolution usually treat ear
mites well? I am still seeing a lot of debris in two of my ferrets.
If it does not cure them, I was wondering what is inexpensive at
this point so to speak, but very effective if the mites are not
gone? I am not going to do revolution again for everything becuase
frankly I just can't afford it with six ferrets.
Another question. Is heart guard still the way to go for heart
worm prevention? I read once that breaking those tablets in half
gives a very unpreditable amount of med to a ferret since it is not
evenly dispersed. Is it emough variance to truly worry about? Is
heart guard the most inexpensive way to go, but effective way to go?
What are my options. I don't think after I get rid of the ear mites,
that we need flea or tick control or any of that.
