As a shelter Mom-- NOT A VET - My response is : Yes it could be both!-
making one change - especially adding a youngster with oldsters is very
stressful-- but to also change food well that is pushing it for our
creatures of habit.

I would say you are lucky that the stool is only golden mucous - your
ferrets could be worse off-- HOWEVER this does mean the ferrets are sensing
stress and COULD be developing an ulcer. Please proceed cautiously and if
necessary get ulcer patches to ensure a smooth transition to the youngster
and change of foods.
