Ferrets are obligate carnivores. They are not grain, fruit, or
vegetation eaters. Yes, they will like a raisin now and then, or
chew on a mint or basil leaf here or there but they cannot utilize
the nutrients in the foods you mention, and those foods can pose a
risk of a fatal blockage as well as of a slow death from
malnutrition if they comprise too much of the diet (and if the
ferret is lucky enough to avoid a blockage). Feed a quality
ferret or cat food.




What I do is use another brand of food as a treat. That way it is a
healthy "no problems" treat for them. And they will be used to
another brand in case something happens with the usual one.
