Subject: Re: Cystic Kidney

Caity, thankyou for the reply. It gives me much hope,
knowing that Pertwee is still here and obviously very healthy.
I will check with the vet, but I think it was just one cyst.
It was picked up as a large pocket of fluid, conbined with
tissue by the ultrasound. They opened her up and found this
large cyst. I think it was about 3 inches wide and almost
filled her abdomen. The vet said that there was no
possibility of saving the kidney. He said she was very lucky
that it hadn't burst.
The only clue that I had, that there was something wrong with
her, was her abdomen was swollen. She was eating, drinking
and playing as usual.
I just can't understand how it could develop that quickly in
such a young ferret.
We plan to discuss sending it off for analysis sometime next
week. My vet said he's never dealt with one before and is
finding her case very interesting.
Hopefully, we will have some answers soon.

Many thanks Caity!

Carol
