Subject: Distemper or flu with bad skin problem....

Hi,
Sunday my male ferret, about 3-4 months old, started sneezing,
coughing and had a high temp. Monday the sneezing and coughing was
gone but temp was 104.5 . Yesterday it was 106 degrees. His paw pads,
swollen eye's and mouth all look like distemper my vet said only some
symptoms are not there. He has eaten like a piggy through this all
and has perfectly formed poop with no parasites. His insides sound
absolutely perfect. He has some kind of skin problem that might have
caused the paw pads to look as they do. He was treated for mites and
has red specks all over his skin. His skin looks red with a white
scaly flakes on his skin. In spots it feels like a tiny raised scab
but only looks like a white flake. His lips and around his eyes are
red bumpy and swollen. Like a cold sore bump. He is itchy also. he
whimpers when he pees a little. Today he is more active. After I
bathed him he ran around trying to dry off. No neurological problems
at all. He acted more normal today. I give him eye medication and
Baytril for an antibiotic. He is a big guy, almost 3 pounds. He never
misses a meal even when sick! I have been feeding him pedylite and a
herbal tea mixture of Pau D' Arco, Echinacea and green tea. He did
go outside once and rolled in dirt and some grass a week before this
happened. My other 2 didn't and are fine so far. Any ideas what this
could be? He has had 1 distemper shot. He is a Marshals baby that I
got from Petco at Christmas when he was 6 weeks old.
Thanks so much,
