Subject: Mating interest by neutered male
Hey Folks, This is Mary Ann -I have a question for you all. My
neutered male Anthony(2 yrs)is showing very curious mating interests.
He was following Lulu, my female (now aged at 4 mos, living with us
for 1 1/2 mos)the other nite for 1 solid hour--very playfully, but
different then I have ever seen before. He was talking to her the
whole time in a language I have never heard him speak to my other
neuterd male before! Non stop sweet soft vocalizations. She was ok
with it although constantly running away from him (poor Anthony) and
when he was too insistant she would hiss. Today he tryed mounting her
and she was not interested. So then he tried to get real friendly
with his brood brother Ferris, very affectionate and nuzzleing, then
mounting him and biting his neck. After Ferris made it known he was
not interested Anthony was playing a bit rougher than I have seen.Is
it at all possible that Lulu who is spayed, 4 mos is throwing off
some scent anyway? I would not classify this as aggressive, he still
seems in good humor about it--yet he really seems frustrated to me,
just a little. I can distract him with a toy or food, no problem. It
really is his first experience with co habiting with a female
ferret.Maybe Spring Fever? I am curious if anyone else has had
experience with this?
Thank you :)
