Hi Dr Ruth,
From what I understand ferrets, mostly young kits, can
get severe, diseased lungs from Bordetella bronchiseptica.
I have heard that Marshall Farms uses the intranasal canine
kennel cough vaccine prior to shipping the kits out. I have not seen
any respiratory cases that I would call "kennel cough" in ferrets.
Of course Bordetella responds well to most of the common
antibiotics, so I would not recommend vaccinating for it.
