I thought I'd mention I have a ferret who had a side effect to Lupron:
after the shot, huge amounts of hair fell out and his skin took on the look
of having been burned -- large, deep red, oozing sores. The sores healed
and his fur came in quite nicely. I've seen sores like that with ferrets
with adrenal disease, but they usually didn't get too much bigger than a
quarter -- his were patches at least 2" across, even joining from one side
to the other over his back. It was only on his back and sides, nowhere
else. It happened quite quickly, over a matter of maybe 2 days. He didn't
seem to be ill. The sores seemed to be itchy. I used an anti-itch spray
several times a day and that seemed to help a lot. I thought at first it
was just a natural progression of the disease that the Lupron just hadn't
had time to stop, but when he started showing adrenal signs again (very
mild), I got him another shot and the same thing happened. Oddly, this
didn't happen any *sooner* than 1 week after the shot, which I thought was
very strange (it was somewhere between 1 and 2 weeks after the shot). When
symptoms started to return again, I had him operated on and he's been doing
well since (over a year).
