I don't know about anyone else, but I would be extremely hesitant to
vaccinate a ferret that is already ill. If it is distemper,
vaccinating for distemper at this point in time is not going to help
anyway.
If it were me, I'd definitely wait until he's over this crisis,
whatever it is. I don't know how the vets feel about this, but my
experience is that vaccinating a sick ferret seems to make things
worse. Is that because it stresses the immune system, which is
already overworked? I don't know and perhaps it's just a
coincidence, but I will never again take that chance.
