Subject: Lumps/Bulges on sides

Hi all,

We have a 4 ½ year old male ferret Koda. We took him in from another
family when he was 2. When we got him he was in poor shape low
weight, missing fur ect… Koda is doing much better now; he has had
one surgery for a torn (I think they called it an ACLU in his knee)
but other than that he has been healthy He hops like a rabbit
(instead of walking) due to a spinal injury he received before we
took him in. Koda over the several months has started to get these
bumps on either side of his body. If you run your hands down his
sides you can feel bulges on each side. The Bumps are low on his body
close to his hind legs. When we took him into the vet last time I
pointed this out to her she said swelling in ferrets is common and
not to worry. I am a little worried are there organs on both ides of
a ferret that can have swelling with no other effect? Could these
bulges be from enlarged muscles from the way he hops instead of
walking? I just want to make sure I should not be pushing my vet to
look more carefully at these bumps/bulges
Thanks
