I apologize if two copies of this message show up; Yahoo is having
some problems...

Ferret in Australia (Bronwen):
No, it wouldn't be a waste of time because there may be a vet willing
to LEARN. That is the position we were in the early years of having
ferrets in our family, and one who is willing to learn and to apply
what general veterinary knowledge the person has is far better than
no vet at all.
You can ease the process by going to the bookmarks and files sections at
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Ferret-Health-list
and making the info you find there -- esp. the stuff written by vets
-- available to your area's veterinarians.
Meanwhile, I am sure that you may hear of tests that folks here would
have a vet do: certainly a CBC and general exam, and depending on
what shows up in general exam perhaps other tests. Take along a
treat to help keep the ferret's head up during blood drawing.
