I'm not real comfortable with the statement that swelling in ferrets
is common. Yes, enlarged spleens are sometimes seen, but I wouldn't
call bulging out the sides to be common, if the spleen is even what
she's talking about. From what I've seen, they don't usually exhibit
bulging on the sides and I had a ferret with a really huge spleen.
It seems to be more noticeable kind of diagonally across the stomach
area, but since I'm not that up on a ferret's anatomy, I will defer
to what the vets have to say about the external appearance of a
swollen spleen.
