At 0.1mg of pred, you have lots of room for an increase. I don't
think anyone can tell you how long you have before he needs a
different course of action or an increase in medication, but it's
recommended that surgery be done in the beginning, rather than later
in the course of the disease.
Some ferrets go downhill pretty quickly, while others don't. My
Beasley had insulinoma for 3.5 years and was only treated with
medication and diet and his pred dose was never near the maximum.
