Subject: Re: NEED HELP WITH FEEDING!!!!!!

If he's vomiting his food right away, it isn't because he doesn't
like it. There's a real problem there. Ferrets don't vomit very
often and if they do it more than once, I think of two
possibilities. A blockage and something that has been seen in a few
ferrets lately, megaesophagus. With megaesophagus, the food is
quickly regurgitated and everyone I've talked to describes a sound
like water going down a drain or a toilet when they feed a ferret
with this condition. This condition can probably be seen with an x-
ray.

I'd stick with plain old chicken baby food, fed frequent small meals,
rather than trying to get him to eat a lot at one time, to see if
he'll keep it down... and get him into a vet first thing tomorrow.
If a good exam and an x-ray don't reveal anything (and it usually
won't when it comes to a blockage), and his condition isn't
improving, it might be wise to do exploratory now to see what's going
on before he goes too far downhill.
