ADV stands for Aleutians Disease Virus. It is a parvo virus
that affects members of the weasel family (including mink and
ferrets). It is similar to AIDs in humans, in that it is
transmitted by a virus and causes autoimmune problems. A
ferret can have and be spreading ADV, but may not show
symptoms for some time. There are several files in the files
section of this list, and several websites in the bookmarks
section that have information on ADV. Also, the website noted
in my signature block is a good site to visit for a more
detailed explanation.
