Subject: Liver mass

One of my ferrets - Slater - a five year old angora, just
underwent surgery, an exploratory to check and possibly remove
an abdominal mass and also to remove his right adrenal. The
abdominal mass turned out to be an extremely large and very
solid liver tumor which was successfully removed along with a
lobe of his liver. What is amazing is the size of the mass - 2
cm in height, 6 cm in length and 4 cm in width and weighed 2.5
ounces. (My Vet kept the specimen to show me - it is about the
size of a large dog's heart). We are still waiting the
pathology report which should be ready by Monday the 11th. The
adrenal tumor was also successfully removed. Slater is doing
great, in fact it is hard to believe that he even had surgery
since he is so active.

I was just curious if anyone else on the list has every had a
ferret develop such a large abdominal mass, if so did it recur
and what the pathology was?

I should note that this abdominal mass was not palpable until
a month or so ago and that 2 years ago when the left adrenal
was removed the pathology was adenocarcinoma.
