Subject: Help! CHEWING GUM!

As the subject line says, my six year old sprite, Xena, may have just
swallowed an undetermined amount of sugarless, mint-flavored chewing
gum!! I'm at fault -- I went to answer the phone and came back to find her
in the garbage can (which I always pick up but neglected to do this time
because I was distracted! :-() gnawing on a wad of already-chewed gum. I
grabbed her and looked in her mouth but found no gum that I could
see. Her breath was, however, minty fresh. :-( :-( I've given her three
strips of Petromalt from my finger, and she still seems to feel okay and is
currently weasling about causing trouble, as usual. I did notice that she
grabbed a mouthful of kibble and ran off with it, as she often does, but
this time she just dropped it in her favorite spot and didn't eat any.

Is there anything I can do now besides what's already been done? What
specific problems might gum cause that other, harder objects might not? Is
gum harder or easier to pass? I'm not certain she actually swallowed any
of it, but if so, I want to be proactive with this. PLEASE, not another
surgery!!! :-(
