What about running the Tennessee Panel? That should help convince your vet if there is adrenal neoplasia present. Sometiems those tests are not very useful, but in a situation like your's it can make sense. Alternatively, you can also consider a different vet for a second opinion; in the Files section you can look in BOTH the recommended vets list and the shelter list to find ferret-knowledgeable vets.
It sounds like your other ferret had the sorts of urinary tract complications which have been discussed here in the past. Those do not happen to all, but are certainly a consideration.
