Subject: Distemper or flu update........
Hi,
I called my vet last Friday (the one on the Star list) to push about
testing for Distemper and he got very frustrated with me. He said "I
told you it was not Distemper. It could not of lived this long if it
was." Saturday He took a turn for the worse. Projectile vomiting and
watery green, slimy stools. I rushed him into a third ferret vet who
sadly said what you guys have been saying all along. The chin and Paw
pads are unmistakingly Distemper. Nothing else causes those symptoms.
She couldn't believe this guy had a 106 temp and they didn't do
anything. Distemper can draw out a while and present with different
symptoms, all leading to the same end, she said. She thinks it came
from when I visited the animal pound. I put him down. She didn't
recommend I be there because it is hard to see she said. The give a
sedative and then a shot to the heart. I couldn't let him die alone.
It was the hardest thing I have ever done, This little gut fought
hard to live and his life was cut way to short at 4 months. She
recommended to not bring another in for 6 months. Yes, I called and
left a message on the other vets voice mail to make a point. Thank
