Subject: Recurrence of adrenal symptoms

There are other possibilities besides the right
adrenal being affected. First off, possibly the left
one has grown back. Secondly, maybe there is ectopic
adrenal tissue in the abdomen. These both happened to
ferrets in our shelter. Bottom line: get the ferret
opened up, if he/she is a good candidate for surgery,
but make sure your vet is comfortable with the
possibility of a right adrenal tumor. ALso, not all
ferrets with bilateral adrenalectomies will need
medication after surgery - I think it depends on
whether the entire right adrenal gland was removed.

Good luck!

Sara
