Subject: Insulinoma question and Re: Help! CHEWING GUM!

Thank you for sharing Adameus' story with me. It was helpful. I'm so
sorry to hear of his passing, as well. I had a similar experience in the
past with Gabrielle, who has already had *two* blockage surgeries (she is
so hyper and into EVERYTHING -- she is more of a challenge than the other
four put together!), when she ate a rubber band. It wound up passing after
administering as much petromalt as I could get down her.

It seems that my worry was premature, since Xena is eating and pooping
normally and shows no signs of blockage. Whew! That was a close call.

Now on to another, less happy turn of events. Xena had surgery some months
ago for insulinoma, and she's been fine until tonight. She had a
seizure. I called the vet and we will be starting her on pediapred. My
question is, how long do these little guys usually last once surgery is no
longer an option and steriods begin? She's six, which isn't exactly a
spring chicken, but I worry...
