There is some info at this address:
http://www.ferret-universe.com/health/adv.html#test
It says to take enough blood to fill a heparized capillary tube. I'm not
sure just how much blood that would take, but 4 drops would probably do
it. A capillary tube is a small piece of glass tubing about the size of
a pencil lead and maybe 3.5 inches long. You can get that by putting
Ferretone on the patients tummy and while he is occupied with licking
that up, clip just the tinyest bit into the pink of a back toe. Fill
your tube and slap some styptic powder on the toe. The ferret will
hardly notice it. That site also says blood in a vacutainer is
acceptable, but that will require a neck stick which the ferret will
fight worse than the nail clip.
