Subject: Re: Ferret Nail Problem

There are a number of possible causes so it is very important for
vet to see this and sample it, in case it is a serious infection or
cutaneous lymphoma. Since all four are doing it I suspect the
latter can be ruled out.

One interesting point: I had a mail recently from someone whose
ferrets were experiencing this and after tests cam eup negative
the vet and ferret-person postulated that there may have been
something wrong with the litter she was trying (She did NOT tell
me the brand.) so she put that aside and tried a different brand.
In the letter she sent she mentioned that new claws were
beginning to grow. May be worth a try to test a different litter.
