Subject: Re: help ferrets causing allergies

I also am allergic to ferrets, although it is not as severe as my
other allergies.

I use a wood pellet litter, any other kinds are irritating.

I tried allergy shots, but they are very time consuming, and when
they test you they can test you for a variety of common household
pets or farm animals, but not ferrets specifically. I did see an
improvement in my allergies but I personally think these are a bit
of a waste of time and money.

I also bought a humidifier, and checked all the filters in our
house, had the heat ducts cleaned out... but the most successful
things I tried?

Acupuncture. It worked for me as long as I kept the number of
ferrets down in my house. Of course this never happened since our
house was usually the first stop for the rescue. So I actually had
surgery to remove some of the turbinate bone in my nose to help me
breathe better. Although I wouldn't recommend this until a last
resort!

If you try changing all of the products you are using, buy a filter,
try allergy shots, and you still don't improve...try acupuncture!
