Hello confused,
I have three ferrets, and two of them had nails that
turned black at cuticles, and then started fallin off.
As the nails started growing back, and nail color
returning to normal, the nails that were bad, started
to fall off. And yes it did seem like shedding. My
vet thought it was an infection due to the old litter
that was being used when I got them. He gave me some
pink stuff for the nails... and they DID start healing
better... but they still have some black left to them.
not sure if it is actually foot rot or infection on
them.
so after this long answer... it would be yes... I have
troubles with nails.... but only on the females... my
male is very VERY strong and his immune system is
awesome! He hardley ever gets ill....
